Building Update - Jan. 29, 2010

1.      Continued drying  and  backfill of the building pad. Wet fill material has continued to be a problem. Backfill is approximately 40% complete.

2.      Storm sewer at the NE corner was installed and tied into the existing system. We have an issue with this tie-in that will be resolved by our civil engineer.

3.      Approximately 250 feet of the primary electrical feed buss duct was installed . The balance of this duct will be continued when Center Point sets a new pole for feeder drop, probably four weeks away at the earliest.

4.      Two test holes for pre-installation inspection for the drilled piers were drilled.

Building Update - Jan. 22, 2010

1.      Received COH approved revised civil drawings.

2.      Due to the rain over the prior week and weekend, work was limited to

a.      Drying the building pad area and

b.      Excavation and removal of debris, and starting lime treatment of two area of the building pad.

3.      COH Fire Marshall rejected the revised fire water line drawing (and the subcontractor’s request for a construction permit) which was approved last week by the Plumbing Office.

Building Update - Jan. 15, 2010

1.      Completed excavation of the building pad, except at two storm drain relocations and where additional excavation is required for removal of previously buried construction debris.

2.      Continues backfill of the building pad with select fill. Wet conditions have severely affected this activity.

Building Update - Jan. 8, 2010

1.      Sanitary Sewer – finished and accepted by COH

2.      Building Pad

a.      Excavation approximately 90% complete and one of three scrappers demobilized

b.      Pad build-up started with select fill

Building Update - Jan. 4, 2010

1.      Sanitary Sewer – work continued  on the N-S section between the Children’s Building and the new building site.

2.      Building Pad – excavation of non-usable dirt started Monday in the Adult Wing (“B” wing) area.

Building Update - Dec. 18, 2009

1.      Sanitary sewer

a.      Backfill of the E-W section along side of the roadway was completed except at the location of the storm-sanitary sewer interference. This location requires a junction box which requires COH approval of the repair drawing before installation can begin.

b.      The COH inspector has agreed to air testing of other portions of the sections near the central plant. Weather has also been a factor in completing these tests.

c.      Excavation was started for the N-S section between the Children’s Building and the new building. Rain has severely impacted and delayed his work.

2.      A scrapper was moved on site, but wet conditions delayed starting the building pad preparation.

Building Update - Dec. 11, 2009

1.      Again, rain has slowed progress for installation of the sanitary sewer. Work completed included:

a.      City inspection of the section adjacent to the “D” ring roadway. Back fill will start today. THE PORTION OF THE ROADWAY ADJACENT TO THIS WORK WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE;

b.      Replacing the concrete paving  at the manhole in the parking area north of the Children’s Building.

2.      Seven truck loads of roof decking and joists and one load of anchor bolts were delivered this week. These materials     are stored in the south pond laydown area.

Building Update - Dec. 4, 2009

1.      Finished bore under parking lot at the north end of the Children’s Building and placed  sanitary sewer pipe in the bore hole. The hole in the parking lot will be backfilled today (Friday), but concrete paving will not be installed until next week. This area will be barricaded with construction portable fence sections and orange “snow fence” for the weekend.

2.      Placed remainder of the sanitary sewer pipe and manholes at the central plant area. The section of pipe between the new building and the Children’s Building could not be installed due to weather delays in completing Item #1 above.

3.      The sanitary sewer trench adjacent to the “D” ring road has not been completed, inspected and backfilled due to weather delays. Hopefully this section will be inspected and backfilled next week. THIS CONSTRUCTION FENCE THAT CLOSES OFF THIS SECTION OF THE “D” RING ROAD WILL REMAIN CLOSED AND LOCKED  UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

4.      Additional construction fencing was installed around the south pond area. This area will be used for dirt storage and materials laydown.

5.      Pumpout of the south pond was started. When dried out this pond will be filled in with dirt removed from the building site.

Building Update - Nov. 25, 2009

1.     The rains continue to impede progress at this stage of construction. The second crew that was to be on site this week was unable to complete the work at their prior site.

2.     Significant time was spent dewatering the sanitary sewer trench. This trench has to be dry for hydrotest and city inspection.

3.     Yesterday, the road bore for the sanitary sewer to the central was completed. Today work was in progress to set the manhole at the building end of this bore. The manhole for the final connection to the existing sewer was received. The contractor will be off Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

4.     THE RING FENCED PORTION OF THE “D” ROAD WILL REMAIN CLOSED AND LOCKED FOR THIS WEEKEND. There are open trenches along side this roadway.

5.     Next week, the sanitary sewer will be placed in the N-S run between the Children’s Building and the new building. The road boar to tie into the existing sewer manhole in the parking lot just north of the north entrance of the Children’s Building will be started Monday. This area will be temporarily fenced with “snow fence” around the excavation (approx. 10’ deep) and the parking lot drive east and west of this work will be closed off with construction cones. This tie in work and repaving of the parking lot area will take most of the week.

Building Update - Nov. 19, 2009

1.     All major site demolition is complete with the exception of the small canopy over the west Children’s Building (fish tank) entrance. This canopy will be remove when the  connector between the two buildings is being erected. This entrance is closed but is useable as an EMERGENCY EXIT. In an emergency be very careful in exiting the building at this location as construction is in progress just outside these doors.

2.     The cost impact has been approved for the revised routing of the sanitary sewer header out from under the building. Excavations varying in depths from 5 to 10 feet for this 6” line and manholes have started at the southeast corner of the new building. The adjacent portion of the “D” ring drive which is in the fenced CONSTRUCTION AREA may have to be closed this weekend. This closure will require rerouting of the shuttle buses.

3.     Construction activity next week will be installation of the sanitary sewer lines and manholes. Weather permitting, excavation for construction of the building pad will start late next week.
